Swag Surf / Water Movement
I see fountains as performing architecture and as a stand in for the body. I’m interested in their impermanence, exuberance, and the civic power and care praxis embedded in the form. This is the first work in my ongoing project Swag Surf (Suite), a dancing fountain project which invents a new era of Black leisure.
I first publicly presented this concept in 2018 at the Library of Congress as part of play/test.
